Uncover the Truth About 'Food Noise'

Food noise isn’t just about hunger—it’s often tied to stress, habits, and emotional patterns that have built over time. It might sound like: • “Maybe I should grab something.” • “What should I eat next?” • “I’ll just have a little.” Over time, it starts to feel like food is something you’re constantly managing — not responding to naturally. Many people assume this means they lack discipline. But food noise is usually a mix of biological signals, habits, and stress patterns — not a willpower problem.

Understand Food Distractions

Food noise often gets louder when your body and your patterns are out of balance. Common contributors include: • stress and emotional triggers • blood sugar swings • meals that don’t satisfy • stress and fatigue • poor sleep • years of dieting or food rules Over time, your brain learns these patterns—so food becomes something you react to, not just respond to.

Conquer the Nighttime Struggle

By the end of the day, food thoughts can feel stronger and harder to ignore. A pattern many people notice: At 10 AM, decisions feel clear and intentional. At 10 PM, those same decisions feel harder to maintain. This usually isn’t about willpower. Signals have been building throughout the day. Fatigue, stress, and earlier meals that didn’t fully satisfy can make your brain more sensitive to food cues at night.

About the Creator

Hi, I’m Penny! I became a Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach 7 years ago, and later continued my training as a Licensed Practitioner in emotional and binge eating, along with certification in Lifestyle Medicine. I’m dedicated to helping people find health and well-being without the influence of diet culture. My work is shaped by both lived experience and years of training in behavior change, emotional eating, and long-standing binge–restrict patterns. I understand that struggles with food rarely begin with food alone. Stress, perfectionism, exhaustion, and years of dieting quietly shape how people eat—often long before they realize what’s happening. I created unHungry to offer a structured, non-diet way forward—one that helps people understand their patterns, use practical tools instead of rules, and rebuild calm and clarity around food over time. This work is about a more peaceful relationship with food—and the ability to live your life without constantly thinking about it.

Inside the Reset, you’ll learn how to slow urges, calm the binge-restrict cycle, and rebuild trust with food.
